How to get to the desert in Morocco?

To get to the desert in Morocco, most people travel to Merzouga or Zagora.

From Marrakech, you will need to drive several hours ( around 8h to 10h depending on the route). But this is rarely done in one day. Many companies organize such trips over 4 days or 3 days, so this trip needs at least 3 days. The trip includes many stops along the way and makes the journey easier and more enjoyable.

You can also go by private driver or rental car, but the most common and convenient option is an organized desert tour. If you are traveling through route R108, you can book a room with us here at Riad du Sud (hotel in Nkob) and discover the region, as there are many places to visit.

In our region, you can visit small oases scattered throughout the area, gorges, and also the rock engravings of Aït Ouazik. You can also visit Bab Nali Mountain in Jebal Saghro, which is very well known for its rock formations. For fossil hunters, the area also offers sand dunes and fossils around 20 km from our kasbah.
