DAY 1 : TAMSAHELTE – AIT OUARZIK

The camels will leave in front of the hotel. The journey starts after breakfast. The road leads over a plateau, through riverbeds and over the Imi N’Aoujgal where our cook prepares lunch. At the top of the pass we have a beautiful view over the surrounding mountains and plains. Arriving at Ait Ouarzik there is plenty of time to visit the neolithic rock carvings and the village. We make camp in a valley outside Ait Ouarzik.

DAY 2 : AIT OUARZIK – AMRAD

We continue through a long gorge filled with palm trees and cross a plateau of black stone and the region of Imi N’Ouarg. We have lunch under the acacia trees. Acacias are a delicacy for the camels. Furthermore, we visit the village Amrad and camp just outside the village.

DAY 3 : AMRAD – FOUM TIZZA

The route continues over the plateau and cross a river bed to the village Efart where we have lunch. The landscape is dotted with tamaris. These plants protect agriculture against sandstorms. We spot some smaller sand dunes until we finally arrive at Foum Tizza where we camp and enjoy the sunset at the dunes.

DAY 4 : FOUM TIZZA – SEGHDRAR

On sand ridges we go into the direction of Seghdrar. The mountains are half covered with sand. We drive along a plateau rich of colourful fossils (tribolite and ammonite) and stop for lunch. Finally we reach the Blue Mountains of Seghdrar where we walk around and then say goodbye to the camels and camel drivers. By car we return to Tamsahelte.
